Common Name Weigelia, Apple Blossom
Description – An old fashioned hardy deciduous shrub from China and Korea named after German professor C.E. von Weigel. Leaves are oval pointed with a beautiful display of deep pink trumpet flowers arching in late spring to early summer. Fast growing and useful mixed with evergreen shrubs for its floral display. Prefers fertile moist loam. A bird and bee attractor. Frost tolerant & waterwise once established
Flower Time – Pink and white trumpet flowers in late spring and summer
Size - Grows to 2.5m tall x 2.5m wide.
Use – A beautiful easy to grow deciduous shrub suitable for the garden.
Position - Suitable for full sun to part shade.
Maintenance – Trouble free plant. Thin out old stems to encourage new growth from the base. Prune after flowering as the new flowers appear on the old seasons growth
